Mona Castle Hotel Seddon Suburban Icon Poster

from A$50.00

In the quiet backstreets of Seddon stands the timeless Mona Castle Hotel, originally constructed in 1874 for Augustus Dixon when the suburb was known as Belgravia. The establishment swiftly became a vibrant hub, frequented by local residents and influential figures alike. Political committees convened within its walls, candidates engaged in discussions with the community over pints, and even coroner’s inquests were conducted on its premises.

Tragically, one of the earliest coroner’s inquests held at the hotel was that of Augustus Dixon himself, who passed away in his sleep in 1878 at the age of 50. Following his untimely death, Robert Otter took over, managing until 1899 when he passed it on to his son, Joseph Benjamin Otter. The Otter family ran the hotel for 40 years.

Over the years, the Mona Castle Hotel has proudly hosted the local football team, organised fundraisers for the Children’s Hospital, and served as a cherished gathering spot for families, tradies, and community members seeking to unwind with a pint.

Raise your glass in a celebration of local heritage with this exquisite framed print from Suburban Icons Posters, capturing the The Mona Castle Hotel—an enduring Seddon institution that has stood the test of time.

This artwork is available in A0, A1, A2, A3, A4, as well as the ever popular Postcard. Professional framing is available on A0, A1 and A2 sizes via pick up only.
